Linda Born has been a teacher since 1978.  She currently works in a program called Reading REcovery, which is for children with reading challenges. She holds two degrees from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas:  a BSE in Elementary Education (1978) and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction (1999). Linda is the caregiver for her mother, who has had Alzheimer's disease since 2004.  Linda resides in Kansas with her husband, son, and mother.

Anna Ruth Williamson has been a wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, church volunteer, prayer warrior, and writer.  Five years into her journey through Alzheimer's disease, Anna Ruth continues to record her perceptions of her world and her prayers to her God.  Many of these are included in My Mom Has Alzheimer's: Inspiration and Help for Caregivers.

As a caregiver, you face heavy demands on your time, emotions, and energy.  Linda Born knows about the stress you are experiencing, because she is the caregiver for her mother, who has Alzheimer's.

My Mom Has Alzheimer's chronicles the inspirational and sometimes humorous adventures that Linda and her mother have shared together. One hundred readings provide Christ-centered coping strategies that will enable caregivers to find strength and hope in God.  This very practical book includes:

  • Daily readings that contain stories about caregiving and related Scriptures.
  • Words of hope for caregivers.
  • A question-and-answer section that addresses issues such as respite care, legal counsel, and choices related to long-term care.

The author has found that the most emotionally difficult phase of caregiving is the transition period from the past roles of mother and daughter to those of patient and caregiver. She shows you how to make the transition successfully.
